W/ Martin.  After 2 days of heavy rain river very high.  Rained all day.  River still rising.  Water up into brush on banks.  Explored up good road several miles above Index.  Good road for MH.  Space for MH at San Juan camp.  First space just past old paved over slide looks good.  Lots of access to river all way along road from Index.
Several guys fishing at outlet from Reiter Ponds, one had a 22" Steelhead.  Water very high and muddy, though.  Martin and I fished along the Startup bar at Wallace River.  Water flooding into the paths to the Wallace.  Got close to the Wallace - a few Chum rolling on opposite side near cabins.  Some Chums and possible Steelhead rolling in slow water below points on bar.  Fished with spoons and spinners - no action.
Flow from about 13,000 to14,000 during day, Gage ht from10 to 10 1/2 feet.

W/Martin.  Lots of Chum in Wallace.  Wallace vis about 2 feet, Sky vis 1 foot or less.  River levels very good for fishing at 3,500 to 4,000 FPS, Gage ht 6.5 Ft.  Rivers coming down slowly after several weeks of rain and flooding - wettest November on record.  We each caught one Chum and snagged several more.  I was fly fishing, Martin spinning.  Trails to walker and to Sky bar all difficult to bush whack through after floods.  Lots of trees etc to get around.  Nice day of fishing - mostly cloudy but only light rain off and on.

Fished Sultan River for searun cutthroat at soccer field.  MANY humpies visible.  No cutthroat caught.  Saw a couple of rises that could have been cutthroat, but more likely fin of humpy.  Fishing for salmon is closed all year in Sultan River.

Wallace River area.  Water quite low.  Wallace VERY low.  Wallace now enters main Sky about 200 yards below old mouth - large gravel bar directs Wallace.  Many humpies visible and rolling in pools of Wallace between gravel bar and old bank of Sky - ie, below old mouth of Wallace.  Martin got one quite large one on a pink jig, couldn't bring to net with 5 wt fly rod, finally grabbed leader and broke it off.  After lunch fished large pool and channel upstream of Wallace about 500 yards.  Many humpies visible and rolling.  Martin caught 3 more on a green/white Dick Nite and lost one.  I got nothing using same tactic in same place.

Fished all along the bar above and abeam the Wallace mouth from about 1400 til 1600.  Landed 1 Pink, snagged two others.  Also hooked and lost a larger fish that ran across the river into half my backing, jumped several times, and threw the hook - possible Coho or Steelhead???  Fish rolling and jumping in stream channels, also fish in shallower water wherever water was flowing over gravel bar.

Floated with Martin and Rick from Sultan to Ben Howard.  In water 1000, end 1800.  Very nice float with lots of good places to stop and wade.  Caught quite a few Pinks on #10 (maybe 8) pink and white bunny.  Martin got more using green Dick Nite.  Flow about 700.  Overcast and rain all day.  The rain only quit for about an hour and a half mid-day.  Could stop float at TTN to save 45 min floating time, but would miss some very good looking water near end.  We rowed quite a bit below TTN before current picked up last half mile or so.

Floated from Sultan to Ben Howard.  Launch 0845, Land 1530.  Flow about 3500 at Gold Bar.  Rain and chilly all day.  Martin and I each hooked and lost a nice Chum on purple streamer (articulated with red head).  Rick landed one nice Silver, don't know what he was using.  3500 flow is very nice, dragged bottom a couple of times.  Very little shore above water at Ben Howard.
