Stayed at Ennis RV Village, Ennis, Mt. Very nice RV park just north of town.
Madison River Fishing Company very friendly and helpful. 9/27 fished Bear Trap area north of town for only about 30 minutes and had three nice fish on but lost them all. Rocky Canyon terrain. Brown/gold wooly bugger w/ prince nymph dropper. 9/28 fished Valley Garden. Great wading, ankle to calf deep, lots of braids and holes. Very windy. Fished two hours with only one bump. 9/29 planned to go into Yellowstone but it's snowing and colder. Went back to Valley Garden in the afternoon. LOTS of fish surfacing between first and second island. Tried many things with zero luck. Finally hooked one fish and broke my leader. Went back to town and had coffee and read the paper at the Blue Heron - more productive than fishing. The worst news was when I returned to the parking area a lady fishing right in front of the boat launch had a fish on, and had caught several others.
10/8 & 10/9/2007 fished Valley Garden again. Quite windy on the 8th. Several strong takes on streamers but lost them all. This just isn't my place.
